A 19th-century gallery (1817–22) created to display ancient Roman masterpieces. Its long, light-filled hall with niches culminates in a grand hemicycle. Highlights include the Augustus of Prima Porta and the monumental River Nile. Portraits and reliefs line the route in crisp neoclassical display. A showpiece of papal archaeology and conservation.
