Sphere within Sphere (Sfera con Sfera)

Polished bronze becomes a planet with a wound. The outer sphere is fissured like a map; inside, a second sphere shows toothed, mechanical forms. Installed in 1990, Pomodoro's sculpture is both mirror and metaphor: it reflects clouds and crowds while suggesting modern complexity—machines inside worlds, structures that turn until they crack. As you walk around it, seams align and misalign, and the piece seems to rotate even when still, joining ancient courtyards to contemporary questions.
