Vatican Mosaic Studio
The Vatican Mosaic Studio (Studio del Mosaico Vaticano) is the papal workshop devoted to monumental mosaics and refined micromosaics, evolving from St. Peter’s decorative campaigns into a world leader by the 18th–19th centuries. Its artisans perfected tiny enamel tesserae and painterly surface effects for altars, chapels, and diplomatic gifts.
