Titian

Titian (Tiziano Vecellio) was the leading painter of the Venetian Renaissance, famed for luminous colorito, sensual surfaces, and psychologically rich portraits and altarpieces. His command of oil glazes and atmospheric depth shaped European painting from Rubens to Velázquez. In the Vatican Museums he is represented in the Pinacoteca by the altarpiece “Madonna and Child in Glory with Saints.”
