Myron
Myron was a Greek sculptor of the 5th century BCE, active in the early Classical period and famous in antiquity for bronze figures that captured poised movement. His lost “Discobolus” became the canonical image of a discus thrower, known today through Roman copies. The Vatican version preserves that Greek invention in marble, turning a vanished bronze into one of the most recognizable athletic bodies in classical art.
